Privacy Notice for SmartLink 700

This notice relates to the processing of personal data when using the HKC SmartLink700 services (“Services”), including use of the SmartLink700 smartphone app (“App”) and the SmartLink700 PC app. HKC Security Ltd, a company registered in the Republic of Ireland under number 620390, of Parkway Business Centre, Ballymount, Dublin 24, Dublin, Ireland provides the Services. HKC Security Ltd is part of the ASSA ABLOY group of companies.

HKC Security Ltd provide the Services to alarm system installers, which are the Data Controller of the personal data used by the Services relating to both the alarm system installer’s employees and customers. HKC Security Ltd are acting as a Data Processor of the alarm system installer. For more information about how the Data Controller processes personal data, please contact them directly.

This notice explains how HKC Security Ltd will process the personal data of alarm system installer’s employees and customers on its behalf. The SmartLink700 app works with the HKC SecureComm service to allow alarm systems to be maintained. We are committed to protecting your personal data in connection with your use of the Services. The purpose of this Privacy Notice is to describe how personal data is collected and processed in connection with your use of the Services.

Personal data required for use of the Services.

When an employee of an alarm system installer registers to use the Services as a user, we collect and store the following: name, email address and a password.  

Personal data processed based on use of the Services.

We process personal data when the Services are used, such as site(s) name and Installation ID, customer name, address, email address and system details and performance information.

What is the legal basis for such processing?

To provide you with the service you requested when using the product. This may include identifying / authenticating you when you use the Services, providing any features and functionality of the Services and the products that you elect to use, maintenance which includes software updates, and communicating with you specific to the Services.

Using your personal data in this way is necessary for us to respond to your request. We are performing our contractual obligations under the agreement we have with the alarm system installer to provide the Services. We are unable to provide the Services without such processing of personal data.

To comply with legal requirements to which we are subject, such as tax, accounting/financial reporting requirements, mandatory disclosures and/or law enforcement.

Using your personal data in this way is necessary for us to comply with our legal obligations.

We may transfer your personal data for the purposes set out above:

-    To organisations of the ASSA ABLOY Group, whether or not going to market as ASSA

ABLOY, that market, sell and support our solutions in your country. This includes Security & Risk Communications Ltd which provides the SecureComm service.

-    To third parties who provide customer support services connected to this product or its functions, but only to the extent necessary to provide these services, for example, to a third-party data centre who may store your personal data on our behalf.

-    When required by law, including to government agencies and institutions, where legally required. 

-    To a buyer or a potential future buyer of our business.

We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.

In the event that we transfer your personal data to countries outside the EU/EEA we use standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission to ensure a sufficient level of protection for your personal data. 

We take measures to protect all personal data transferred to a third party, or to other countries, in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

We store personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which the data has been collected, and in accordance with our internal record retention schedule. This means that we delete your personal data when such data is no longer necessary to process a request, or to manage your account or our client relationship. Statistics which have been anonymised may be saved for longer.

In relation to the personal data that a Data Controller processes about you, you have the right to:

-    Request a copy of your personal data from its records;

-    Ask that it corrects or erases your personal data;

-    Ask it to stop processing your personal data, or restrict how it process it; 

-    Request the personal data processed about you is provided in a machine-readable format, which you are entitled to transfer to another data controller; and

-    Withdraw your consent to it processing your data for marketing purposes at any time.

If you would like to exercise one of these rights, you must direct your request to the alarm system installer, as the Data Controller.

We may update this privacy notice from time to time in response to changing legal, regulatory or operational requirements. If we make any material changes to this Privacy Notice, we will notify you by placing a prominent notice on our website or in the app. Your continued use of the product after any such updates take effect will constitute acceptance of those changes. If you do not accept any updates to this privacy notice, you should stop using the Services.
